About the Olmsted

The Olmsted, located in the heart of St. Matthews in Louisville, was where the former Masonic Widows and Orphans Home resided. The construction of the building was during the 1920s and the architectural firm Joseph and Joseph designed it.

As for the 80+ acres of land surrounding the building, the landscaping was designed by the nationally recognized Olmsted Brothers, headed by Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. The Olmsted Brothers worked on many famous projects throughout Louisville and they were the legacy of their father's conservation projects, including Central Park in New York City.

The Olmsted has become a popular venue for local events and weddings. As it happens, both Catherine's Aunt and Cousin got married at the Olmsted, a legacy that's carried within the Hendricks family on Catherine's Mother's side.
